It's A Beautiful day

If I had woken up with a giant zit on my face, had a bad hair day, gotten soaked in a rainstorm getting to work, and missed the train, it would have been fine with me because nothing was going to wipe the grin off my face today.

If I had woken up with a giant zit on my face, had a bad hair day, gotten soaked in a rainstorm getting to work, and missed the train, it would have been fine with me because nothing was going to wipe the grin off my face today. Today, people in Boston are going to be a little nicer, a little peppier, heck today when they flip you the bird on Storrow they'll be doing it with a smile. Its amazing how a game of baseball can light up a city.

Its only the wild card spot in the playoffs but to this city it may as well have been the 7th game of the world series. The best part of it all was the fact that no one was thinking about tomorrow. Everyone just wanted to enjoy the here and now. Can you imagine the old regime spraying the fans with champagne and Bud Light???? Somewhere Tom Yawkey is rolling in his grave and Dan Duquette is wondering where his invitation is. You know Steinbrenner's twitching right now, don't you? Little beads of sweat are forming as we speak. Brian Cashman has just turned ecru.

The best part of the whole night was the fact that after the players went into the clubhouse they came BACK out onto the feild. They slapped hands, sprayed champagne, tossed out shirts and hats and thanked the fans for everything. There wasn't any superstars thanking their agent and their 14 illegitimate children's mothers. Nobody was saying, "I'm number one". They made the fans feel like they had as much of a hand in winning this as they did. Hell somebody should put together a DVD of this season right now, 'cause I'd buy 12 of them.

I've never seen a celebration as big as last night's but I sure as hell hope I see bigger, but for now I'll enjoy it while it lasts.
