Dear Santa,

All I Want For Christmas Is....

· A closer who can actually close games before we trade/release him so he can go win a World Series.

· Some bling, bling come October

· More starting pitching (thanks for Schilling but without being greedy I wouldn’t mind another, preferably a young, single, hottie pitcher who can win 20 games)

· To never see Bennifer sitting front row in Fenway ever again!

· Keys to the Red Sox locker room

· Season tickets with an “I’m sorry it took so long” note from John Henry

· To quit smoking before October…my lungs can’t take that kind of pressure again!

· Theo Epstein’s job….and Theo (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)

· To get paid to annoy people with baseball talk

· For all FOX baseball announcers banished to color commentating competitive pottery making

· A-Rod for Manny but not Nomar

· A second baseman that can hit and occasionally turn a double play

· For God not to be a Yankees fan

· To get my dream house complete with a sports bar in the basement which features a 55” screen HD TV, full bar, comfy couch that seats 10, and a sign that says “Steinbrenner is My Bee-atch”

· To get that restraining order lifted…it wasn’t me, I swear!

Re: Dear Santa,

I don't know about the whole A-Rod/Nomar thing any more. Frankly, sports agents are the pimps of the sporting world, except I don't feel as sleezy around a pimp...uh, not that I hang out with them... :)

If the Red Sox are right and they offered him what they did, and Nomar refused, well, he may be in for a rude awakening on the free agent market with the new collective bargaining agreement, and Tellum should just keep his mouth shut. And who's to say that Tellum (or is that "don't Tellum"?) even told Nomar about the offers? Agents have been known to make their own decisions.

Now, I think Nomar would be a great loss to the Red Sox, not just on the field but more importantly off it. But the Red Sox need to get rid of Manny, and to get A-Rod in his place may be the literal "offer they can't refuse".

Players can spout all they want about "wanting to play out their careers with the team" and such, but it seems it always comes down to money. I mean, when was the last time a star player ever came up to the contract table and said, "Hey, just pay me the same you did last year. I don't need more money."
